Magnet fishing

We wern't allowed to go fishing during alert level 4, so we went magnet fishing from our balcony.  We fished into the shed gutters and we caught heaps of rusty nails.  It was quite hard trying to get the magnet to pick up what you wanted.  We made it from a very good magnet and tied a long rope onto the circle bit on the top.  You had to lean over and swing the rope and drop it where you wanted it.  We found out that the magnet was so strong that it got stuck on the roof mostly every time!  You had to pull very hard to get it off the roof.  It didnt pick up the old can, I'm not sure why.

  1. Kia ora Bailey, WHat a creative idea for your lockdown fishing. THe photos help us to understand the process well. There is a junior Maths game using magnet lines to fish up numbers printed on fish then add them up. I expect you might go fishing again in Level 2.

  2. Hi, thanks for commenting on my fishing. I liked it because it kept me busy with my family. afterwards me and my brother placed some things that were magnetic so we could use the strong magnet to pick them up. There was some good maths counting nails.
